NEXT STEPS AT EL DORADO FIRST ASSEMBLY

Salvation

It is one thing to know what the Bible means by this word, “salvation”; it is quite another thing to experience it in your life. It is only when it becomes personal to you that it becomes something great, something life-changing.That was certainly the case for a particular jailer we read about in Acts 16 who came to Paul and Silas and asked them, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” (Acts 16:25-30). Salvation became something personal for him - “what must I do to be saved”? Paul responded, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved” (16:31).

Water Baptism

Baptism is important in what it signifies. Your transformation is a sign that you have changed completely and are no longer who you were before. As Christians, we have been given a new identity. Jesus calls all believers his disciples, but God calls them his children (John 1: 12-13). Baptism is one of the most significant ways we can identify ourselves with Jesus' death, life, and resurrection. Rather than changing your heart, baptism signifies you have already been cleansed, your sins have been washed away, and you have been given the perfect righteousness of Christ - free to live a life united with Him.

Serving

Service is not uniquely Christian; it is part of our normal day-to-day lives. While service is not unusual, Christian service is something quite unique and extraordinary. There are essentially three factors that differentiate Christian service from other types of service: its inclusivity, its purpose, and the manner in which it is done.

Connection/Home group

Doing ministry and sharing life together with other believers is a powerful thing. This is what we call Christian fellowship or community. We believe that life-change happens best in community. In fact, God created us to live in community; experiencing fellowship with one another is a part of His plan for our lives. For the believer, community is essential. We need one another. By sharing life with other believers, you and I will maximize our spiritual growth. That is why Home Groups are an important part of El Dorado First Assembly, and we hope it becomes an essential part of your life.

Giving

In one sense, giving is the very bedrock of our Christian faith - “For God so loved the world that he gave…(John 3:16). Such an act calls upon us to give generously for the glory of God, not to withhold from giving, but to give willingly, cheerfully, and sacrificially. As we practice tithing we will experience blessings in our life that we would not otherwise experience. For one, the practice of tithing or giving helps us grow in the Lord.

Kingdom Builders

Kingdom Builders is an El Dorado First Assembly of God strategic initiative focused on the local, national, and global expansion of evangelism, outreach, and mercy ministry. Whether it be future building expansions, planting new churches, sending missionaries to the nations, or caring for the poor, we believe that as Christians we are called to participate actively in the Great Commission by impacting the world and building the Kingdom of God in every sphere of society. In order to do that we must believe in a BIG GOD and dream BIG DREAMS. Each one of us can be used mightily by God to affect change in the world for generations to come if we will strategically unite our hearts around a clear vision. We believe Kingdom Builders is that vision.

Holy Spirit Baptism

Since the early days of the twentieth century, many Christian believers have taught and received a spiritual experience they call the baptism in the Holy Spirit. At the present time, hundreds of millions of believers identify themselves with the movement that teaches and encourages the reception of that experience. The global expansion of that movement demonstrates the words of Jesus Christ to His disciples that when the promised Holy Spirit came upon them, they would receive power to be His witnesses to all the world (Acts 1:5,8). The New Testament emphasizes the centrality of the Holy Spirit's role in the ministry of Jesus and the continuation of that role in the Early Church. Jesus’ public ministry was launched by the Holy Spirit coming upon Him (Matthew 3:16; Mark 1:10; Luke 3:22; John 1:32). The Book of Acts presents an extension of that ministry through the disciples by means of the empowering Holy Spirit.

The most distinguishing features of the baptism in the Holy Spirit are that:

  1. it is theologically and experientially distinguishable from and subsequent to the new birth,
  2. it is accompanied by speaking in tongues, and
  3. it is distinct in purpose from the Spirit’s work of regenerating the heart and life of a repentant sinner.
